An electrician from Indiana recently invented the cup on the left that can be attached to the opposite side of a drilling site and be able to catch whatever may fall. The cup also comes with a metal stopper that can be attached to the drill to make sure it’s secured to it.
“Loose metal shaving could get inside the equipment,” says Jeff Oostman, who named his invention the Catch-All Safety Cup. “When we energize things, if it crosses, it could blow up. It could arc out, and could hurt personnel. The cup is not going to eliminate the danger, but it greatly reduces the risk of it happening” he says.
