Noise Testing

Noise is one of the most common occupational health hazards. Permanent hearing loss is the main health concern however annoyance, stress and interference with speech and emergency communications are also concerns.

The Safety Links professionals are available to conduct personal noise dosimetry and sound level surveys to determine if employee exposures to noise exceed the OSHA exposure limits. The OSHA Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) and Action Level (AL) for employee noise exposure are based upon an 8-hour Time Weighted Average (TWA). The OSHA AL is 85 dBA and the PEL is 90 dBA.

Organizations have an obligation to protect your workers from this debilitating hazard. As a first step in dealing with noise, you need to identify operational areas where excessive exposure to noise occurs.

How can we help?

Safety Links will work with you to complete a Noise Assessment for your operation including area noise mapping and/or personal noise dosimetry.

Personal noise dosimetry is often recommended in areas which are close to or higher than the allowable limits to ensure that noise exposure for the full-shift (typically 8-hours) is captured to compare results directly with the OSHA limits.

The results of the noise survey will determine if actions are necessary to ensure compliance with the OSHA noise standard and minimize the potential for noise induced hearing loss.

After we obtain the noise measurement results we will offer practical advice on noise control measures to protect you and your employees from the detrimental harm of noise.
